Adam’s Last Supper
2012, 114x70cm, acrylic on canvas
National Art Gallery Collection, Bulgaria
The painting depicts Adam (the first man) as a strange figure of desire. He is as on a plate at the centre of an empty table. The composition refers to the classical work “The Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci. By turning Adam into an object the painting aims to comment on the male dominated structure of the space and the phenomenon of objectification of the women. It represents also a change of the gaze. The question remains who is looking at Adam, who desires him?
